Briere Moves To The Upper Class

It's taken him 10 years, but Daniel Briere has finally made it. The official stamp of approval came last week when an arbitrator awarded the Gatineau native and Buffalo Sabres co-captain a one-year contract worth $5 million (all figures U.S.). That was a 163-per-cent increase from the $1.9 million U.S. he received last year, instantly lifting him to the NHL's upper class.
