Numerous reports are Rostislav Olesz headed to Chicago for Brian Campbell.
Some paper work needs to be completed but you can call this a done deal.

If anybody is wondering why Brian Campbell would waive his limited no-trade clause to go from a team that will very likely be a stronger competitor than the Panthers, look no farther than tax law.
Florida has no income tax and Campbell makes $7.14M per year. That is a HUGE difference in how much of his own money he gets to keep.
Now that Brian Campbell has a cup, he can comfortably play out the rest of his contract in sunny and comfortable Florida while keeping more of the money given to him by Chicago’s former and Florida’s current GM.
Part of me wants to cry collusion on this whole deal or say that there’s some tampering going on, but I honestly have no idea how to write a fair rule that would prevent teams and players from doing this that wouldn’t end up punishing people that I don’t think are trying to do each other underhanded favors.

Awesome for the hawks to have the cap space, but hard to forget how much better Campbell made the hawks not only last year but also in their cup year…looms like keith has to play like a Norris trophy winner again or the hawks d is screwed

Folks, we have a winner. Chicago was just allowed to get off the floor and will contend next year thanks to this, and yet they still are allowed to bury Huet in Europe. Bullsiht.

Not sure why people have to cry conspiracy at every little thing…but if you really want justice then Tallon should take huet in the trade and pay out all his shitty contracts, good luck to him with that, he must be betting on profit sharing to cover his losses…

Florida is just paying back the charity of the successful teams by taking Campbell’s contract. There’s no greater overpaid defenseman than that soulless ginger.
(I’ve been drinking, probably shouldn’t be commenting outside of A2Y)

Hey, remember when Campbell chose Chicago over San Jose so he could be closer to his family? Those were the days man.

Wings really, really need a #2 defenseman now. The central will be brutal next year; it’s like colorado, florida and philidelphia where trying to make the rest of the division better

I’m not crying conspiracy, I’m crying collusion.
I’m also a little sad that the CBA was put together in such a way that Florida would trade Rusty Olesz to Chicago for Brian Campbell for little more than having a huge contract on their books which will help them reach the floor without having to throw so many ridiculous group A bonuses at over-35 players.
You tell me why Tallon, or any GM would make that trade for a guy making $7.14M, which is at least $2M more than he’s worth.

Collusion would imply Tallon’s making this trade to help Chicago for some gain. He isn’t, he’s just doing it to meet the cap floor in Florida. It’s just the stupid CBA rules that is causing this trade.

this is huge in shaping the balance of power in the west…they could even afford to put huet back on their roster but instead they are going to go for that quality 2nd liner…
this is the downside of the cap going up….those cap floor teams are forced to spend and it brines a who wants to play there type scenario
