Brian Boyle Signing With The New Jersey Devils Is Official

Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today signed forward Brian Boyle to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $2,550,000. The announcement was made by Devils' Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

Boyle, 32, spent the 2016-17 season between Tampa Bay and Toronto, where he totaled 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points with 66 penalty minutes in 75 games. After two-plus seasons with the Lightning, Boyle was traded to the Maple Leafs for Byron Froese and Toronto's second-round choice (Alexander Volkov) in the 2017 NHL Draft on February 27, 2017. The Hingham, MA, native notched two assists with the Maple Leafs in six 2017 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The 6-6, 245lb., forward has played for Los Angeles (2007-2009), the NY Rangers (2009-2014), Tampa Bay (2014-17) and Toronto (2017) during his nine-plus season NHL career. A veteran of 624 regular-season NHL games, Boyle has totaled 93 goals and 76 assists for 169 points with 488 penalty minutes. He has 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points in 106 Stanley Cup Playoff contests. Since the 2010-11 season, Boyle has skated in the second-most Stanley Cup Playoff games (106). The left-handed forward attended Boston College (HE) from 2003-07 where he was teammates with Devils' goaltender Cory Schneider and helped lead the Eagles to Hockey East Championships in 2005 and 2007. Born on December 18, 1984, he was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2003 NHL Draft.
