Brenden Morrow May Soon Be Traded

from Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,

Blues general manager Doug Armstrong has acknowledged being involved in trade talks recently and now those discussions could be leading to a deal soon.

The Blues have prioritized adding a top-four defenseman this offseason, and after failing to land one in free agency, the trade route may be the club’s only option. But while that search continues, Armstrong might have found a veteran forward to add to the mix.

Dallas captain Brenden Morrow is believed to be available and it appears that the Blues have interest. They may not be the only team asking about Morrow, as the New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings may also be in contact with the Stars.

Every Trade rumor has the Sharks involved but rarely if ever does the Tire Kicker (Doug Wilson) get the job done.

@Tire Kicker: Doug Wilson a tire kicker?  Ever heard of Joe Thornton, Dan Boyle, Dany Heatley, Martin Havlat, Brent Burns.

via Mike Heika tweet,

I’m hearing no trade talks for Brenden Morrow to St louis. Nothing really cooking at all right now.

That’s a zinger if I’ve ever seen one. Just delete your post after that.

That would be a kick in the chops.  Morrow is one of my favorite players, and St. Louis is one of my least favorite teams.  Hopefully this is just more MSM speculation.

If it weren’t for all of the injuries, I’d love to see Morrow play for Detroit.  But as much as I like his style of play and his perceived character, those recurring injuries are a huge question mark.

I’m guessing the other shoe will drop (what a stupid cliche, btw) after Doan makes his decision—Morrow’s a nice little backup plan for these teams that clearly want an infusion of toughness and gritty scoring ability.

In fact, if it didn’t mean giving up assets, you might say Morrow’s a better plan than Doan, being a little younger and having just one year at $4.1 million left on his contract.

Morrow is a little banged up, but he (and/or Doan) would make a great addition for any team looking for a gritty veteran who isn’t afraid to talk in the room.  Both of those guys are gamers.

Doug is indeed a tire kicker, 5 trades in 6 years wooow. Dougie was in on several trades that he could not get done last year, and he is a well known Tire Kicker by most everyone here in Canada.
