Brendan Shanahan Meets With The Toronto Media

from TSN,

Toronto Maple Leafs team president Brendan Shanahan gave a mid-season state of the union Friday and the message was clear that the team’s performance hasn’t been good enough this season.

"Our assessment is that it hasn't been good enough," Shanahan said, adding, "we're going to learn a lot about our core in the coming weeks."

On his team’s leadership, Shanahan said credit and blame is directly related to wins and losses, but did acknowledge "it hasn't been where it needs to be.”

Below, Sportsnet breaks down what Shanahan said...

2 thing-eys:

1.) From the video portion, what’s-his-name keeps using the word, “core,” & I don’t think he knows what that word means. “Core,” doesn’t mean that he interacts well with the media. “Core,” doesn’t mean that someone has good social skills.

2.) Shanahan sucks as Team President. Instead of installing his own team when he arrived by firing the GM & installing HIS OWN GM then allowing this GM, while perhaps holding a veto, to install HIS coach he dithered; “GM keep your job but I’ll fire your 2 assts & Coach same with you.”

Shanahan is comparable to someone being named coach and keeping the old coach’s assts but firing the equipment manager. It simply made no sense.
