via Nick Kypreos tweets,
#NHL news Statement of Allan Walsh (player agent) concerning #Bluejackets forward Derick Brassard (healthy scratch 7 of the last 10 games):
“While I have tremendous respect for Howson and rest of Columbus’ management team, the situation regarding Brassard has become untenable”
“This coach has a history of burying players and using them as scapegoats to mask his own lack of success on the ice”.
“Derick has been singled out, almost from the very beginning of the season to be the fall guy in case things don’t go well”
More on this from Aaron Portzline of Puck-Rakers…

I’ve been a huge Arniel supporter.. but there is NO WAY that the success of the team hinged on Brass and to hold him more accountable than others is wrong. I can see if they’re benching him so he doesn’t get injured before some sort of trade but to say he’s not up to snuff.. he should bench the whole damn team.. Funny how nothing is ever Nash’s fault or responsibility

When is Walsh going to learn to stop whining ? it doesn’t help your Player your whining about or the team he plays for

It’s pretty obvious they’re pushing for a trade, it’s not really whining, it’s more strategy. Could be a good opportunity to get a promising player. He was always pretty good when he got the play with Nash.

And so it begins.
Brassard will not be the last Jacket wanting out this year. It’s all falling apart, and quite frankly it’s probably last rites for them as a franchise.
What a miserable failure. All they needed to do was show some sign of life in the 11 years (I think it’s 11) they’ve had a team, and they absolutely could not manage it. That’s what happens when imbeciles are running the show.

Walsh is right in that Howson and Arniel (and Hitchcock) would bury players in the minors while scapegoating them for the failures of the entire organization. Columbus is exceptionally dysfunctional.

it’s true, everyone’s looking to save their own skin. That’s why no one will talk about the common denominator of all their unsuccess, which is bad management and Rick Nash.. MacLean is garbage, so they bring an accountant and a spineless asst GM to replace him. One extreme to the other. MacLean mortgaged away they’re future so shortly into existence and Howson has skated by with a team imposed salary cap with safe bet Oilers castoffs.. (safe bet they aren’t any good anymore..def wont be in columbus)
As far as I know, right now it’s Brass Vermette and Mason on the block.. they’re C heavy right now and are looking for D and G’s.. good luck with that…
This team from Mike Priest down to Rick Nash blow my mind… I feel bad for any players who’ve come here hoping to change the tone becaues all it takes is about 2 season before they tune someone out. RJ was heart and soul of the team the past couple years, untouchable they said.. now they put him on the third line and he looks defeated.. you can see it in his play. Columbus just fuching drags people down man.
