COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Derick Brassard on injured reserve, Blue Jackets Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Brassard was injured in the first period of last night’s game vs. the Los Angeles Kings and is expected to be sidelined at least two to three weeks.
Brassard, 23, has tallied 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points with 47 penalty minutes in 57 games this season, setting career highs in goals and points. He is tied for the club lead with five power play goals, ranks second (tied) in assists and game-winning goals (three) and third in goals and points. Columbus’ first pick, sixth overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft has registered 34-68-102 and 118 penalty minutes in 184 career NHL games.
