Brad Staubitz Suspended Until 4th Regular Season Game

Minnesota Wild forward Brad Staubitz has been suspended for the remainder of the preseason and for three regular-season games for an illegal hit from behind to Columbus forward Cody Bass during a preseason game on September 23, NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan announced today….

At 4:24 of the third period, Staubitz hit Bass from behind and into the glass. Bass was injured on the play. Staubitz was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for checking from behind.

That was a terrible hit, perfect example of the kind of hits we don’t need in the game. Great work Shanny, keep it up.

Bringing down the hammer in a good way.  Great explanations on each suspension thus far.  Exactly what the NHL was missing in terms of clarity.  Hopefully this type of attitude keeps up.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see other leagues follow suit (if they already don’t as I am not entirely sure).
