Boudreau Wants The League To Review Stoll Hit On Fowler

via Eric Stephens of the Ducks Blog,
Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau suggested that the NHL take a long look at a hit by the Kings’Jarret Stoll on Cam Fowler that knocked the defenseman out of the club’s 7-4 win and left him with an upper-body injury.
Fowler had to be assisted off the ice during the second period and did not return. Stoll drilled him headfirst into the boards and was not penalized.
The severity of the injury is not known but Fowler is expected to be re-evaluated on Sunday.
“He obviously is not feeling very well right now,” Boudreau said. “We haven’t determined exactly what it is. If you saw the replay, Stoll hit him pretty good from behind. And I can understand why the refs didn’t call it. One was getting taken out. There’s another fight going on.
“But surely, you know, I saw the numbers when Stoll hit him. It was right from behind. They have to have to look at that. He might be OK tomorrow or he might be out for a while.”

Looks very similar to the Stoll on Ian White a few years ago. He’s looking right at his numbers as he puts the guy face first into the boards.

Dunno. I see this as nothing. Fowler stops short when a guy’s breathing down his neck at about 2 feet of distance. He basically pulls the equivalent of a break job on Stoll. I guess it could be argued that Stoll shouldn’t have finished him as hard as he did, but as soon as Fowler stops short, Stoll colliding with his numbers and knocking him face first into the boards is unavoidable.

Dangerous boarding for sure. Stoll helped him into boards when his numbers were square his face.
Jovial face Boudreau has strong argument.
