Boston will ‘land’ Iginla, but not in the way they’d hoped

As the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch suggests, for one player, the Eastern Conference Final may be...A wee bit awkward...Given that he helped scuttle a trade to the team his Pittsbugh Penguins are facing:

Jarome Iginla didn't want to join the Boston Bruins. Now, he's got to beat them. In a matchup the Pittsburgh Penguins winger probably would have rather avoided, he'll get his chance to get a first-hand look at the Bruins in the Eastern Conference final that will start later this week.

While the former Calgary Flames star is quite happy with his decision to accept a trade to the Penguins March 28, Boston GM Peter Chiarelli insisted at a news conference the day after that the deal was done and that he had a trade in place for Iginla.

If Iginla thought he had heard the last of that fiasco, he's about to face all the same questions again about the decision to go to Pittsburgh, although, the two teams did face off on April 20 in Boston when the Penguins scored a 3-2 win.

"It's been a great experience. I'm enjoying every moment," said Iginla, who has 12 points in 11 playoff games during the second-round series against the Senators. "I'm thrilled to be here."
