Bobby Ryan May Be Available

via TSN,

It appears that Anaheim Ducks forward Bobby Ryan could once again be on the trade market.

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie tweeted on Tuesday that Ryan may be available again after he was taken off the market after the departure of former Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle.

Ryan’s name was mentioned in trade rumours at several points last season.

The 25-year-old scored 31 goals and 26 assists while appearing in all 82 games for Anaheim.

Staal for Ryan? We already know he and Sid mesh well.

Quincey and Mursak for Ryan???  Leaves us with Kron, White, Error, Smith, Kindl.. if we’re picking up 2 top 4 D.. I’d argue we have plenty of top 4 D, we need top pair D.  Never replaced Raffi, now Lidas is gone.. we’ll see if Kronners can handle it, but he seems prone to gaffs once he gets over 24 mins a night.  Anyhow.  We have D, Q has upside, he’s also frustrating.  Mursak is a good player but KH seems hung up on Emmerton.

Mursak, Emmerton, Sheahan, Ferraro, McCollum and the rights to Hudler and Quincey in a 3-way deal that somehow magically brings in Jordan Staal and Bobby Ryan.  If we are going to fantasize, might as well go big, and clean out the chaff while we are at it.

And that is exactly why Staal should leave, you guys don’t know what you’ve got there.

1 Jordan Staal is worth probably 2 Bobby Ryans. I’m sure Anaheim would be happy to make that trade. Getlzaf wouldn’t be happy on the 2nd line though.

I’d be happy if Detroit got Ryan if Parise doesn’t leave NJ.

Staal is hopefully not going anywhere.  Most penguin fans (except a few—evilpens) understand, appreciate, and respect every aspect that Staal brings to the penguins.  The only fear at this point is that Staal is unhappy with his third line center role.  If that is the case, I am not sure he will be so quick to re-sign this summer.

I’m sure that is the case. What guy at his level would be happy being 3rd fiddle? He’s capable of 2nd line on any team in the league and 1st line on many. The thing is, nobody knows how good he could be, including Staal, and I bet that eats at him.

Pittsburgh’s loss will be someone else’s gain.

Question - you think there’s any chance the Pens trade Crosby? I know that’s crazy talk but I keep hearing it come up and, hey, even Gretzky got traded. In a cap world and with his injury risk, you never know. Especially after how they played without him this year.

No.  If you keep two of the three, it has to be Malkin and Crosby.  As good as Staal is,  he’s never going to hit the level of Malkin or Crosby.  The only way Malkin or Crosby get traded is if one of them wants out.  Of course, the bigger concern is that Crosby gets injured, then you are left with Malkin and whoever you can bring in.  Shero will try to keep all 3 together.  If he can do it, that is best for this team moving forward.  The biggest thing will be limiting mistakes, or at least mistakes at this time, like Michalek and Martin…

Just thinking the salary cap might force his hand on it. Keeping Staal over Malkin or Crosby frees up some cash and Staal is still damn good so it’s not like they won’t have solid 1/2 centers.

DON’T TRADE BOBBY!!!

You don’t trade a talent with the potential to be a 40 or 50 goal scorer, you build around him!

Nah, you trade him to Detroit for spare parts.  That’s what I would do anyhow.
