Bob McKenzie’s Final Draft Rankings

from Bob McKenzie of TSN,

It is a lot closer than it appears; far tighter than the numbers would suggest.

Yet there he is, Jack Hughes, still No. 1 on TSN’s final draft ranking board - just as he was in September in the pre-season ranking; same as he was in late January in the mid-season ranking; and no change at all from early April and the draft lottery ranking.

This time, the 5-foot-10-1/2, 171-pound dynamic centre from the U.S. U-18 National Team Development Program sits atop TSN’s 2019 NHL Draft Final Ranking.

When you factor in that on each of the September, January and April lists, Hughes was the unanimous No. 1 – getting 10 out of 10 votes from TSN’s panel of NHL scouts – and earned eight of 10 votes in the most recent June survey, well, it seems like Hughes is in a class by himself.

But that’s just not the case.

When was the last time you gave your height and included half inches? Almost like little kids giving their age as 6 1/2…. rolleyes

I’ve heard that NFL teams actually beak it down to tenths of an inch when evaluating prospects (for some positions)
