Blues Need To Strike Gold In Entry Draft

Ideally, what the Blues need now is to select the new face of the franchise with this year's top pick which, based on the current standings, will definitely be in the top five and could be first overall, depending first upon how they finish and then how they make out in the draft lottery. Thankfully for St. Louis, Pittsburgh's primary need is to add depth on defence, meaning they would almost certainly choose the top-rated player in the draft, U.S. world junior star Erik Johnson, if they get to pick first. St. Louis, with Brewer and Jackman already in place, has a greater need for a dynamic offensive threat, someone like Phil Kessel, the University of Minnesota freshman who could be the most dynamic young American in years.
