Kukla's Korner Hockey

from Shawn P. Roarke at NHL.com,
Atlanta traded the rights to Tkachuk, an unrestricted free agent, and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2008, back to St. Louis on Tuesday in exchange for the conditional first-round pick in 2008 that was sent to St. Louis as part of the February trade.
St. Louis receives the conditional fourth-round pick only if Atlanta signs Tkachuk before Nov. 1.
But, that seems unlikely. By obtaining Tkachuk’s rights, St. Louis holds sole negotiating rights with the player until free agency opens July 1. That suggests that the Blues will work diligently to get Tkachuk signed before Sunday’s free-agent frenzy begins.
