Hotel room in the city of San Jose were at a premium on Wednesday night because of a convention, and the Blues had to scramble to get enough rooms for the team. In the end, they couldn't get enough. While veteran players usually get their own room on the road, the Blues got so few rooms in the city that they had to double players up on Wednesday night, while non-essential personnel spent the night in San Francisco, about 50 miles away.
“We've all had to do it, so we knew to expect,” said center Kyle Brodziak, who said he hadn't shared a room on the road since the lockout. “I think guys have just got accustomed to it the last few years. It was good though.”
Fortunately for the Blues, whatever was gobbling up all the rooms ended on Thursday, and for the rest of the team's time here, accommodations were back to normal and rooms that were costing $500 on Wednesday could be had for $139 on Thursday.
