Blues lose Elliott to ‘lower-body injury’

Via Pro Hockey Talk's Dhiren Mahibian, the St. Louis Blues lost an incredibly important contributor when Brian Elliot suffered a "lower-body injury" on this hit by Senators forward Erik Condra (and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Tom Timmermann reports that the Blues are sticking with the "lower-body injury" line):

Ottawa won 3-2 in a shootout.

Well, that means I’m down one fantasy goalie…was wondering why he was posting a shutout and Allen came in.

Is it the smaller equipment not being able to cover the puck or is it the directive to hold off on blowing the whistle because instant replay can cover a ref’s mistakes that is leading to these goalies getting run? (Neuvirth getting run by his own teammate being the exception recently…the monster getting run in OT)

Is it the new nets that tip over with the slightest touch?

I don’t know but if we lose Howard the way he’s playing right now for us…
