Blue Jackets Getting Calls, No Action

from the Columbus Dispatch,

“I’m talking with lots of teams,” president and general manager Doug MacLean said yesterday from Miami, site of the general managers meetings. “But I’ve got nothing that’s seriously close.”
The Blue Jackets are expected to trade right winger Anson Carter and defenseman Bryan Berard for draft picks before the 3 p.m. deadline next Tuesday.
It’s unlikely, however, that either player will be moved until the ball gets rolling on some of the bigger names on the trading block.
Mac-Lean said that most of the calls he has been receiving are about Fredrik Modin, but he reiterated that he will not trade the left winger.
It’s likely the Blue Jackets will sign Modin to a multiyear contract extension by the end of this week.
