Blue Jackets Reaction After Losing 7-0 To The Oilers

Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson called it a "sh-- show." Left wing Nick Foligno said it was "disgusting." Coach Todd Richards accused several of his players of quitting in the third period.

The Blue Jackets' season -- seemingly headed in the right direction after a solid win in Ottawa on Sunday -- went off the rails in stunning fashion tonight in Edmonton, a 7-0 loss to the Oilers before 16,358 in Rexall Place that is tied for the third worst loss in franchise history....

After venting about his team's lack of preparedness, their carelessness with the puck, and the acreage of space they gave the Oilers, Richards pointed out something that really bugged him.

"How we played the third period,” Richards said, shaking his head. “We were just playing to run the clock out. To me, as a coach you watch certain things and certain players to see how they’re going to respond in tough situations … well, we had guys who just wanted to get the game over with, which I’m really disappointed with.”
