This is a little...different...per ESPN Chicago's Scott Powers:
The Chicago Blackhawks will honor forward Marian Hossa's milestone of playing in 1,000 NHL regular-season games by wearing commemorative jerseys during warmups and holding a pre-game ceremony on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old Hossa played in his 1,000th career regular-season game against the Detroit Red Wings on the road in Sunday’s 2-1 shootout win. Hossa has 921 points during his 15-year NHL career. He signed with the Blackhawks on July 1, 2009.
The commemorative warmup jerseys will include Hossa’s name and number, 81, on the back. Each jersey will be autographed by Hossa and the player who wore it during warmups and then be auctioned on chicagoblackhawks.com from March 5 at 7:30 p.m. to March 11 at noon.
The proceeds from the sales will go to Hossa’s Heroes, which provides community service, educational support and development of youth sports, and Blackhawks Charities.
