The reining Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks may be down two of their biggest stars (and captain) but they are not out of the playoffs. Having clinched a sport in the new Central Division and fresh off of a 4-2 win against the current central division leading St. Louis Blues things could be lining up for the Blackhawks.
Patrick Kane has been out of the lineup for Chicago with what is described as a lower-body injury has recently started skating once again.
Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews whom has been out the last few games with an upper-body injury is slated for a return for on-ice practice later in the week.
While having two of the biggest hockey stars in Chicago out with injury close to the playoffs it has allowed for a surge of production from some of the Blackhawks young stars in the making like Jeremy Morin and Ben Smith whom have scored in consecutive games.
Though Toews and Kane are out with injury it will allow the two star players to take time to recover and not push the injury further heading down the stretch. The team being able to keep on rolling will give much needed experience and confidence to those in positions like Morin and Smith. With confidence and injury recovery it positions Chicago for a chance an another deep run into the post-season.
