If you’re on this site, you’re probably a hockey fan. While others are out enjoying this fine Saturday afternoon, we’re here browsing the internet in search of any news about our favorite team. Maybe you’re even looking for dirt on a rival. I know I do that…
But this post isn’t about the NHL. It’s not about the AHL. It’s about 40 kids playing in front of the biggest hockey crowd in history. It’s about doing what you have to do for the good of the guy next to you. Some of these players will go on to the NHL, but others will be doctors, accountants and lawyers. They’re not playing for money. They’re playing for pride; and no pro contract can ever replace the pride they’ll feel when they leave the Big House knowing they gave it their all as a team.
Bo Schembechler said it best: “The team, the team, the team.”
When Justin Abdelkader scored the National Championship winning goal against Boston College, it was his team that set him up.
When Mike Legg scored his gravity-defying goal in ‘96, it was his team that got him in that position.
I think it’s pretty clear who I’m pulling for, but if not, I’ll say “go blue!” and see if you get it now. But Sparty fans are welcome, too. In fact, I hope there’s a nice mix of fans of both teams as well as a few neutral viewers who just want to be a part of history. So here we go…
110,000 fans.
2 teams.

“do you have the big ten network?”
Negative, Ghost Rider. I did at one point, but Dish Network screwed me out of it.

Ha, Red just wearing a suit and a sweater vest. He did the same at MSU but did put a coat on in the 3rd.

1-0 by Jon Merrill. Gotta love it. Go Blue! Brighton, MI represent!

2-0 bitches.

2-0. States D is just backing in, giving too much space and not challenging.
Posted by HockeyTownTodd on 12/11/10 at 06:35 PM ET
michigan is clearly the more talented team so far. sparty will need to work harder if they want a chance at this.

If the Wings move the puck like this tonight, they’ll be just fine.

Those Michigan jerseys are awesome. Might have to get one.

The Devils are very impotent on offense. Detroit should be just fine.

It looks to me like Michigan is just keeping State to the outside and only allowing shots from the perimeter. If that keeps up for the entire game, State is screwed.

awesome.
hunwick playing well considering he wasn’t supposed to start.

Great period for Michigan. I tell you one thing, if the refs in the NHL called charging like the way that ref called charging on Blue earlier, there’d be more of a penalty box parade than there already is. Kinda weak.

Nice to hear the name Chelios again when watching a hockey game. Who’s he signed with?
am I the only one for state here?
Since I went to two schools with MSU in them (Montana), I’ll be your huckleberry. I could care less, but I’ll go for Sparty.

anyone know the lowest scoring football game at michigan stadium? is it 3-0? it would be interesting to see if these teams can combine to beat the lowest football score at the big house.

State is doing that themselves (just like the Wings), they cross the blue line in the center and then pass to the halfboards instead of challenging and confusing the D by going to the net.

Hey, I said “if”.
Not you, cs1234. I hate these sort of games.

“I hate these sort of games.”
You wouldn’t be implying that this could be the ever-feared “trap game”, would you?
