Big Chill at the Big House

We’re just 9 days away from the biggest college hockey game ever. Just 9 more days until Sparty maintains their bragging rights at the Big House, or the Wolverines get some pride back and send State back to East Lansing, sobbing all the way. The battle will be epic, that’s a guarantee. You could hold a ping-pong tournament at the Big House and it would be amazing. That’s what 110,000 people in one place does to an event.

But how do you watch it? It’s sold out, so unless you have tickets, you’ll have to find it on TV like me. Since I’m out of state, I’ll be watching on the Big Ten Network, but if you’re local, you can catch it on FS Detroit.

There’s a live webcam up here that is constantly showing the rink as it’s being constructed. It’s literally as much fun as watching paint dry (they did paint the lines today), but history is history. If you join the Facebook group, Michigan Hockey, they’ll let you know if something interesting is going to happen on the webcam. Today, someone skated on ice at the Big House for the first time ever. Who? Red Berenson, of course.

Predictions for the game?

I’ll be there, but dont’ really care who wins. I’ll just be happy to see some good hockey. And that will be the key. Sight lines are going to be awful.  It will be a social event more than anything.

Red Berenson.  How appropriate!

110,000 at a hockey game!  A world record by far.

This is just fantastic for the whole hockey world.

Go blue!

That’s gonna be one massive event.  Completely happy for everyone involved in this.

I’m not gonna predict a winner as I’m just thrilled that history’s being made in Ann Arbor.

Oh what the Wings/Hawks Winter Classic could have been.

Predictions for the game?

I predict pain.

Spartans eke out a 4-3 victory late.

Of note?  The two largest hockey crowds now will not only be in the U.S…. they’ll be NCAA hockey events.  And both in Michigan.

Canada and Minnesota?  Not even in the same zipcode still.  Speaks volumes, doesn’t it?
