Bad Timing For Halak Injury

from Dan O’Neill of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
Upon re-evaluating Jaroslav Halak, the team placed their No. 1 netminder on seven-day injured reserve, retroactive to Monday’s 3-2 victory over Vancouver.
Halak injured his right hand — or blocker hand — during practice on Wednesday, skating off early. Team officials would not say if the problem is a recurrence of the earlier injury that caused Halak to miss 13 days….
The Halak development adds difficulty to an already demanding situation. Hoping to climb back into plausible playoff position, the Blues have six games in the next eight nights and seven in the next 10. Suffice to say the Blues should have a sharper image of where they stand when this sequence is over.
At the same time, the NHL trade deadline (Feb. 28) coincides directly with the conclusion of the busy stretch and general manager Doug Armstrong might have a more definitive idea on his approach to personnel moves. Pending the outcome of these next few days, the roster could look quite different.
