Avs Suffer More Than A Loss

This defeat will go down as one of the most difficult the Colorado Avalanche will endure this season. Defenseman Ossi Vaananen, on his second shift, suffered a broken right ankle that will require surgery and probably end his season and right wing Milan Hejduk sustained a neck injury on his fifth shift and didn't return. "Those are two big guys on our team," said captain Joe Sakic, whose goal with 8:49 to play in the third period put the Avalanche ahead 3-2. "It's a tough loss, but I think everybody pulled together and played pretty well."more
