Avs Suffer More Than A Loss

from the Rocky Mountain News,
This defeat will go down as one of the most difficult the Colorado Avalanche will endure this season. Defenseman Ossi Vaananen, on his second shift, suffered a broken right ankle that will require surgery and probably end his season and right wing Milan Hejduk sustained a neck injury on his fifth shift and didn't return. "Those are two big guys on our team," said captain Joe Sakic, whose goal with 8:49 to play in the third period put the Avalanche ahead 3-2. "It's a tough loss, but I think everybody pulled together and played pretty well."
