from Terry Frei of the Denver Post,
Colorado, which fell to 14-8-5 for the season and two points behind Calgary in the Northwest Division, got worse news about 45 minutes after the game ended, well after Avalanche coach Joe Sacco and the players had talked to the media and, in most cases, left the building.
Winger David Jones, injured when Minnesota’s Chuck Kobasew fell into him near the Colorado blue line with 5:09 remaining in regulation, was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The initial prognosis was that he would require surgery and be out for four to six months, and anything but the short end of that scale means he is out at least the remainder of the regular season.
