from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal,
— The Dallas Stars have a wildly effective offensive game, but they are likely looking for one more veteran defenceman at the deadline to play in their top four, so Jordie Benn can move to No. 5. They’ve got John Klingberg, Alex Golikoski and Johnny Oduya as three of their top four. UFA’s to consider as a trade: Mark Streit with the Philadelphia Flyers and Kris Russell in Calgary, with Brian Campbell in Florida in the mix.
— If the Jets can’t re-sign Dustin Byfuglien, the team most interested in him would probably be the Florida Panthers. GM Dale Tallon worked with him in Chicago and only begrudgingly moved him for cap concerns after their first Cup win, trading him to Atlanta.
— Defenceman Roman Josi is the reason the Predators might consider dealing Shea Weber in the off-season. He’s a strong player, a No. 1 for sure. One western-based pro scout said he might be the most underrated defenceman in the league.
