from Cam Cole of the Vancouver Sun,
Over at ESPN.com, behind a paywall, toils the fertile mind of hockey insider Craig Custance, a superior sportswriter whose only failing is a strange aversion to In-N-Out burgers.
Even lacking the stimulation of this essential food group, however, his brain clicks along, churning out wonderful ideas, such as: polling 10 prominent hockey agents to find out which NHL cities are most commonly listed on players’ no-trade clauses.
The results of the poll, revealed Wednesday, are mostly unsurprising — give or take Toronto making the top five — but their message is depressingly consistent.
To summarize: ABC. Anywhere But Canada (or Buffalo, that honorary Canadian city.)
“I hate to say it, but it’s the Canadian teams,” said one agent quoted by Custance. “Vancouver would be the most desirable out of those teams. There’s Winnipeg and Edmonton, Toronto because of all the bad media … and Montreal. Either you love it or hate it.”
