from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,
A 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night made it four straight wins for the Florida Panthers, including three on the road. The Panthers looked for much of the first two months of the season like a young team still too inconsistent to be a playoff participant this season, but now they're tied with the Devils and Boston Bruins for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 28 points.
Lots of hockey to go this season, but this is the kind of run Florida needed in order to put itself in the mix.
Roberto Luongo was outstanding again Thursday night, by the way, stopping 32 shots. The 36-year-old has allowed two or fewer goals in five straight games and sports a spiffy .928 save percentage for the season. Not bad, old man.
So, are the Panthers ready to pounce this season?
