Antoine Vermette Suspended Ten Games

NEW YORK (Feb. 16, 2017) – Anaheim Ducks forward Antoine Vermette has been automatically suspended for 10 games, without pay, for violating Rule 40.3 (Physical Abuse of Officials) during NHL Game No. 840 in Minnesota on Tuesday, Feb. 14, the National Hockey League announced today.

The incident occurred at 7:33 of the third period. Vermette was assessed a game misconduct for abuse of officials.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Vermette will forfeit $97,222.22. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

What am I missing here? Vermette makes $1.75M per year – or $21,341 per game in an 82-game season. If he got suspended for 10 games, wouldn’t he be fined $213,410?

This doof is going to appeal this.

I wish one of the clauses with an appeal is that if you lose the appeal, the 10 games becomes 20 or something.  Because it is a laughingstock that he’s appealing this.
