Before he even plays his first official NHL game, Islanders first-rounder Ryan Strome faces a potential suspension from NHL VP Brendan (Robespierre) Shanahan, who has been handing out lengthy punishments like candy at Halloween.

Strome was ejected for boarding Devils forward Stephen Gionta with 3:14 left in the Devils’ 1-0 exhibition triumph last night in Newark.

Strome, taken fifth overall in June, one slot behind Devils’ pick Adam Larsson, voiced remorse, insisting that’s not his style, but expecting to hear from Shanahan.

Also, Nick Kypreos reported this morning Clarke MacArthur may be meeting with Shanahan too…
