Another Questionable Hit From Tom Wilson

from Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post,

Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson could be facing discipline from the NHL’s department of player safety again, just eight days after he was suspended two preseason games for interference. Playing in St. Louis on Sunday, Wilson was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding Blues forward Sam Blais....

Wilson’s suspension a week ago also came in a preseason game against the Blues, when his hit on Robert Thomas was deemed late and excessively forceful. On Sunday, St. Louis Coach Mike Yeo said Wilson’s boarding on Blais was “a predatory hit with a guy that apparently didn’t learn his lesson from the first suspension.” Blais was evaluated for a concussion, but he returned to the game.

“Maybe coming down a little bit harder on him will make him think a little bit more about it,” Yeo said. “It’s tough, going after vulnerable people.”

This is why the DoPS is such a joke.
Idiots like Wilson will gladly take a 2-game suspension in order to keep opponents on edge while they apply their particular brand of skills (see: dirty hits, being a douchebag).

Sit him down for 15 games and then see what happens.

But that only happens if the DoPS has some balls. Which it doesn’t.
It’s a puppet regime controlled by the BoG’s who want these types of predatory hits in the game.
The only reason why there’s any discipline for hits like this is because of the leagues fear of future lawsuits.

I imagine Wilson has pushed DoPS too far with this but I doubt he will get more than 5 games but deserves more.  I think he was suspended last year? 10 games or more would send a better message and lost $$$ but won’t happen

I thought being a repeat offender was supposed to carry some weight?
This guy should be the Matt Cooke treatment. 17 games. Sit down troll.

Wilson has not been suspended until this preseason, so now he will be considered a repeat offender.

That in itself tells me all I need to know about that sacklass DoPS.
It’s also the reason the NHL will eventually lose a lawsuit concerning its lack of player safety.

Thanks Paul!  He is really lucky as he plays a little dirty. Maybe the bar has been lowered for Mr Wilson (well deserved , IMO)

Hopefully Wilson learns something this time.

The game last night was not televised so DoPS is probably using game tapes to make their decision.
