from Eric Stephens of the OC Register,
Another uninspired effort has instead turned the heat up on a team viewed as a title contender by many, a Cup favorite by more than a few. The Ducks didn’t offer up much of a spark in a 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center.
The Ducks (1-5-1) are off to their worst start in franchise history. A team that was shut out four times all of last season has equaled that in the first seven games. Few answers were found afterward.
“Well, it’s not fun,” defenseman Cam Fowler said. “I don’t really have much to say. We’re trying to say all the right things. As a group, we’re trying to encourage each other. I’d be lying if I said it was easy to stay positive right now.
“This is a tough go that we have. But we have to stay together through it. That’s the only way that we can come out on the other side.”...
Ducks general manager Bob Murray was on hand to watch this train wreck. With the team facing defending champion Chicago on Monday, the unavoidable question is how much longer he will give Boudreau to get the Ducks flying in the right direction.
Asked if his message is still heard by his players, Boudreau said, “I think so. Every day I come to work and I work hard. It’s just depressing when you’re not able to get rewarded.”
