The Tampa Bay Lightning have waived team captain Dave Andreychuk. At a press conference held at the St. Pete Times Forum Tuesday, the team announced they have placed Andreychuk on waivers at noon Tuesday. If Andreychuk clears waivers, he will be assigned to the AHL Springfield Falcons. Andreychuk can then, if he wishes, retire and claim the money owed to him in his contract. The NHL says goodbye to Dave Andreychuk today. No team could possibly find a reason to claim him on waivers. Let's choose to remember his playing career with the image of him jumping up and down with the Stanley Cup over his head and not the struggling anachronism we saw through the first half of this season.more
