from Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post,
Defenseman Andrew MacDonald is hoping that when he checks into a hotel next week that it’s in Los Angeles, where the Flyers will open their season, and not Allentown, Pennsylvania.
He did the latter too often for his liking and still feels a bit anxious about it.
Last year he went through training camp figuring he’d be with the Flyers until just before the season started when they waived him, he went unclaimed and moved in part-time at the Renaissance hotel attached to the PPL Center, home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
“It would be pretty tough not to think about it,” MacDonald said, “but at this point, coming into the season I feel like I’m in a pretty good place mentally and physically. The way things finished up last year was obviously a huge part of that. I think I was just able to come in this year and put everything aside and just play the way I’m capable of playing.”
So far, a trade that brought him from the Islanders to the Flyers in March of 2014 has pulled his career into all sorts of directions.
