Kukla's Korner Hockey

from the Atlanata Journal-Constitution,
Q: The salary cap was created in part to level the playing field between big market and small market teams. With the rise in league revenues, the cap keeps rising. Doesn’t that defeat the original purpose?
A: It’s a good question, and I like how you put that because revenues are growing in the league, the cap is going up. But our team revenues are not growing as fast as the league revenues are. Your question is, are we headed into a dangerous thing as the league cap continues to go up? If our revenues don’t meet or exceed that, it’s going to start putting us, and many teams in a very difficult position.
