Colin Campbell, the league's vice-president and director of hockey operations, said the league got what it wanted. "From the feedback we received last summer, everyone, including the individual on the street, was saying it was the first time they watched the Stanley Cup final in a long time and they really enjoyed it," said Campbell. He said there would be no let-up in calling the hooking, holding and other interference that was stifling the sport's top stars and that were key to traps and other defensive systems that slowed down games. "Our patience was tested by a lot of people last year and we tested their patience with the parade to the penalty box," Campbell said. "But we got over the humps in November and March and in the playoffs. "Not that we didn't have issues, like soft calls, but that came with the referees learning as well."read on...a refresher on what has changed for this season...
