Again, It Sounds Like Detroit Or Retire For Modano

from Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News,

Modano said there still are times when he has doubt, and he needs to make sure that’s not there. Modano said he and representatives from Octagon Sports have had conversations with management from Minnesota and San Jose , but that they have not set up any visits or meetings with the Wild or Sharks. He said he has had a ton of conversations with Detroit, and that coach Mike Babcock has been very persuasive. Babcock told nhl.com last week that he felt Modano would indeed play in Detroit, where he was born and grew up….

Modano said Babcock has been just as energetic in person, and he said that’s a great feeling. Babcock might just be the most respected coach in the NHL right now. He led Team Canada to a gold medal at the 2010 Olympics, and for him to say he believes Modano can be an important part of a very good Red Wings team is intoxicating.

“Definitely,” Modano said. “He’s a great coach, and he’s very serious about making this work. That’s one of the reasons I am taking this seriously. I know what will be expected, and I want to make sure I can do it.”

Weird.  I read this going through a tunnel and it went like this:

blah, blah, blah….Babcock might just be the most respected coach in the NHL right now….blah, blah, blah.

Well, let us simplify this for you Wilma/Wilga/Whatever. We don’t give a rat’s ass about your doubts. We don’t care whether you doubt yourself, the money or the Wings. We just don’t care. GTFO. (And if that’s not clear enough, let me type it out in full: Get. The. Fuch. Out.)

Take a few hundred thousand more to play in the State of Hockey (or is it the Hockey State, who knows). Or take a mil more to play on the Left-(wing) Coast. We. Don’t. Care. Just GTFO.

We’ve got home-grown Wings who are ready to take their place in history. We don’t need you. You can take your adios-tour BS someplace else. We don’t need it. We don’t want it. And we don’t even care if Uncle Mike has a hard-on for you. Just. Get. The. Fuch. Out.

But, hey, love the wifey. She’s hot. I’m sure she’ll love San Jose from October til’ April. And I’m equally sure she’ll love Hawaii in May – which is where you’ll both be about nine months from now.

Blah blah blah, is it over yet?

Go west, Mike, go west! To the ocean! Enjoy being regular season champs and then getting knocked out before the Finals.

+19, OTC.  Do what the wifey wants (a la Pronger when he left the Oilers) and go West.

Just go.
