While he joined in with the rest of the hockey world in condemning an ugly racial incident at an NHL preseason game Thursday night, African-American Avalanche forward Greg Mauldin doesn’t believe racism is pervasive in the game.

“It’s an unfortunate incident. But I think it was an isolated incident. I don’t think that speaks for the entire hockey community. There’s a lot of great hockey fans out there, so one person shouldn’t tarnish that,” Mauldin said.

Sorry, but there are a lot of great European soccer fans that don’t do something like this. Yet, its goes on and it seems to be accepted to a point. It sounds like an excuse for forgiving, which in this incident no human being should forgive an act like this. Nothing pisses me off more than racism and sexism. If you take the time to get to know the person and you still hate them, fine. But to hate someome just because of their race or sex, I’ve never seen point in that and I never will. I just hope that there is video or photographs of the person who did that so that they can be identified. They should be shamed publically, either on the internet and newspaper or be forced to do sometime by a judge in public. Maybe carry a sign on the courthouse lawn or a busy intersection stating that they are a racist.
