“I want to sign here. I love it in Nashville, I want to stay here, but it’s really not something we should be thinking about right now, we’re in a playoff race and it’s going to go down to the wire.”
-Shea Weber of the Nashville Predators. More from Josh Cooper of Predators Insider.

If we didn’t have $6M dedicated to Rafi, we could bring in Weber. I wish his and BF’s contracts expired at the same time.

The highest paid defenseman in the league is annually-injured Brian Campbell and his albatrossic $7.1 million and the league’s premier generational no-maintenance defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom is earning $6.2 million. BOS’ Chara is earning a cap hit of $6.9 million starting next fall; he’s currently earning $7.5 million.
Somewhere in the middle is Shea Weber. With those penny pinchers in NSH? He’s gone to somewhere with the team willing to spend (SJS, perhaps?) and for term.
