As we said, the Campbell e-mail story had been sitting around for some time waiting for someone to connect the dots. The fact that it was a blogger who did so does nothing to reinforce mainstream media’s perceptions about its omnipotence in such matters. This was not gossip or pillow talk, just good old-fashioned work by Dellow.

Sports Illustrated also picked up the story, the Michael Farber headline - - Dartboard Justice - - priceless!
It is too bad the NLH won’t see this an an opportunity to make progress on discipline issues - - they are too damn busy pah-pahing the hoi polloi, you know the ones that actually pay their salary.

Kudos to Dowbiggin for saying the truth here. Good to see a MSM member recognizing in plain English the hard work Dellow put into his story.

Jeff Blair, also from the G+M, had this piece up yesterday.
Time to change the NHL gene pool
Mind you, I had to go looking for it just now cuz it didn’t seem to last long on the front page of the hockey section.

The circle jerk was in full effect on the versus after-hours show two nights ago. The point/counterpoint ranged from “It was wrong, but he’s a good guy” to “People need to mind their own business, Colin Campbell is unimpeachable and perfect in every way.” Both “debaters” noted that he’s spent his entire adult life with the NHL, as if that means he’s more impartial somehow. This league is totally out of touch and frustratingly incompetent.
Campbell should step down and take the first GM job that comes open. His position should be replaced by a panel of ex officials, former players and others that rotate on a year-to-year basis.
