"I think it's ultimately heading toward a trade.  They're just too far apart on the term of the contract - P.K. wants long, the Canadiens want two years - and they're probably at least $2.5 to $3 million per year apart on where they want to be. Ultimately I think this ends up in a trade."

Jeez, $2.5-$3 mil apart? So Subban is presumably asking for $6 mil a year ish?

Suter just signed for a gazillion and his stats on paper aren’t much different. Granted, he’s shown some longevity and consistency against top line players, but still.

I’d think more dollars, less term at his age. Sounds like Montreal is trying to low-ball him on term and dollars. I’d hold out too if that’s the case.

What do you think of Kronwall?

The problem Montreal faces is that how can they justify offering Subban say $3 mil a year when they have Kaberle making over $4 mil (they didn’t give that contract, but still) and Markov $5.75 and P.K. is, hands down, their best blueliner.

OK. Here’s a situation for Kenny to show he’s not senile and REALLY help turn the Wings around.

Subban’s not worth what he’s asking for, but he’s definitely worth a lot more then what Montreal is offering.  Ultimately, young players of his caliber have been getting long term deals with more money.  Any kind of 1 or 2 year deal is low-balling him and I’m sure he’s starting to also think that he wouldn’t get the same kind of criticism for his attitude and flashiness in another market.

Kronwall is NOT a Punk, I would take him on the Pens in a Heartbeat, he’s a better version of Brooks Orpik

Yeah because it is that easy. All Holland has to do is recognize that Subban is talented and would help the team, snap his fingers, and Montreal won’t hesitate to ship him down to Detroit for a bag of pucks and a case of poutine.

Come on people, think about it. I could see the Wings putting together a package if Montreal is interested in forward prospects and a pick, but there are a lot of teams that can offer that.

Yeah, because that’s all teldar said he would have to do.
