GM Garth Snow spitting mad over Tavares' Olympic injury: "Are the IIHF or IOC going to reimburse our season ticket holders now?"

"It's a joke. They want all the benefits from NHL players in Olympics and don't want to pay when our best player gets hurt."

"It wouldn't matter if we were 10 points up on a playoff spot or 10 points out. We lost our best player and he wasn't playing for us."

Funny you should ask that, Garth. According to Tyler Delow and the New York Post, the salary of players injured at the Olympics will be paid by the insurance that the IOC paid for. So Tavares gets his money from the Islanders, and the Islanders get their money back from the IOC’s insurer. If Snow feels that bad for his season ticket holders, maybe he should cut them a check out of the money he’s getting from the IOC’s insurer.

Great catch, Riley.

And who’s going to apologize to Islanders fans for Garth Snow building a team that apparently only has one player on it worth watching? Bummed for Tavares, but Garth and Wang are total knobs.

as pointed out on the web today, the Islanders were not happy with Team USA for not picking Kyle Okposo.

Looks like they want it both ways.

Callmedrw the team has no choice whether a player goes or not. As far as the okposo thing…people aren’t paying money to see him. I can see why he’s upset and hes laying the groundwork for his argument as to why the nhl should not allow its players in the Olympics.

That’s what I thought too, but nobody has adequately explained what kept Lubomir Visnovsky from participating.

i believe snow found wiggle room with his health and using team doctors to say he wasnt healthy from a concussion even though he had played 5 games. Snow is one of the worst GMs in sports.

So call Tavares unhealthy and do the same thing.  If we’re going to be goofy about things, there’s no excuse for Snow to let any of his players go and then bitch when they get hurt.

Awesome. I haven’t seen anyone call someone a knob in many years.
