I've gotten a few emails lately from people who say they are Avalanche season-ticket holders. They say they will immediately cancel their season tickets once the first game is cancelled from the lockout, and they say they'll never come back. They're through, they said, with this insanity.

Can't blame 'em one bit. I would absolutely do the same thing if I were an NHL season-ticket holder. Personally, this would be my tipping point — a third lockout in the last 18 years. I would lock out the NHL from my consciousness permanently in return.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said the last collective bargaining agreement was one that "worked for everybody, but most importantly, for our fans."

Either he was wrong, or he was lying.

What really needs to happen is to convince local corporations in each city to cancel their luxury boxes and season tickets.  Maybe people should start contacting local companies and talking boycott if they support the NHL through luxury boxes in this economy.  Once they realize they can cut this from the marketing budget with no harm, they likely will never come back.  Hard to do I suppose in cities where the hockey and basketball teams share a stadium.

Well, that brings the Dive fan base down to exactly zero.

Since Colorado has lost over half of its season ticket base with crappy ownership, I doubt very much there is anyone left to protest.

Can you have a fan base in the negative numbers?
