Afternoon Line- Chris Stevenson On The Ottawa Senators

The view, right or wrong, is the club’s top players don’t want to be here long term because they don’t like the direction the team is going under this ownership or they won’t be paid fair market value. If the perception is the players aren’t buying into it and want out, I can understand the fans feeling the same way.

When the players, as a whole, dislike or lose faith in ownership, you’ve got a serious problem. At some point the league may have to step in and tell Melnyk to stop being/acting like a jerk or find new ownership. The guy really doesn’t seem to have the same passion for hockey that most owners have. You can’t complain about yearly profits for a team at the same time a sale of said team would bring a huge payday.
