Adam Henrique Is No Tobacco Farmer

from Tim Wharnsby of CBC,

Adam Henrique did not want any part of the family business.

His Dad owned and worked on a tobacco farm in Burford, Ont., just outside of Wayne Gretzky’s hometown of Branford. The New Jersey Devils rookie centre spent enough time working alongside his father in the summer to know that hockey was a worthwhile pursuit.

“He made it hard on us,” Henrique recalled on a visit to Toronto to play the Maple Leafs earlier this week. “I didn’t want to be a farmer when I grew up. I think working there in the summer and seeing how hard he had to work to put food on the table, it showed me that I wanted to be here playing in the NHL for a long time.”
