* The Islanders’ playoff exit virtually guarantees that Alexei Yashin will be bought out unless a trade is possible and that’s extremely doubtful. There’s no way the Captain and Ted Nolan can co-exist for another year where the coach remains King. The feeling up front is that Yash is too slow for the current NHL and less than super-motivated.
* Tough Question Dep’t.: Where does Mark Messier land in 2007-2008? One possible – though not probable – scenario would have Don Maloney moving into a GM slot giving Mess the possibility of taking over as Rangers assistant GM.
