Aaron Ward Retires

Defenceman Aaron Ward announces his retirement.

added 11:38am, via NHLPA,

“I’m very proud to have played for as long as I did in the NHL, with and against the best players in the game,” said Ward. “This game has left me with countless memories and relationships, especially from those Stanley Cup winning teams in Carolina and Detroit. Thank you to my family, fans, friends and teammates for all of the great years.”

Aaron Ward shares some Scotty Bowman stories.

“One night in Chicago, I blocked a shot with my mouth and from the lip to the nose, I was gushing blood everywhere. As I headed to the room, Scotty yelled ‘If you’re not back in five, you don’t play another shift.’ Our doctor was about 80, so I knew there wasn’t a chance that the stitches were going in that fast!”

Maybe we’ll see him with TSN full-time this season, I think it was last year’s playoffs he first showed up as an analyst. I’m neutral on his work so far.
