Yashin’s agent Mark Gandler answers a few questions in Sovsport and basically said this will be Yashin’s most important year of hockey.
They are hoping Yashin has a year on the ice that will attract NHL teams again.
Read on for the very rough translation of the Q & A…
Alexey Yashin’s transition in “Locomotive” still remains the main theme in the hockey world. The American fans are dared, including, that “Islanders” has correctly got rid of the expensive player. And our fans are happy: stars of such level usually appear in a superleague of times in ten years – when there is a lock-out.
The Soviet sports » two days prior to the transaction, in number from July, 18th, have written, that now Yashin faces to a dilemma: or to find a command in America, or to return to a superleague, namely in Yaroslavl “Locomotive”. As we see, the second forecast has come true. Yesterday your correspondent has called to agent Yashin – to Mark Gandleru who has organized returning a star of NHL to Russia.
In it there is an item what Yashin in consent can leave Yaroslavl and return to NHL if to it there will make the favourable offer?
Such item would not have sense – if both parties agree, to break off it is possible any contract. Therefore we did not register such paragraph in the contract.
Yashin’s salary in a superleague will be comparable to that which to it offered in this inter-season period in the market of free agents?
The financial party of the contract of the client with anybody I shall not discuss. It is the confidential information.
Name then quantity of commands of NHL which applied for Yashin.
We carried on serious negotiations with six clubs of league. Except for them, 6—7 more commands have shown interest to Alexey (that is the recent phrase of “the Soviet sports” that half of clubs of NHL hunts for Yashin, is near from true. — a comment red.). Understand, when you already know the sum of the salary on what your client it is unessential to wait for the official contract offer from commands … As a result of them counts have made four clubs of NHL.
But Yashin has chosen “Locomotive”. Why? Yaroslavl have offered more money? From a superleague to make the way in a combined team [national team] of Russia easier?
The desire to get [on to the] combined team was not considered at all. Business not in that, wants it Alexei or not. Simply on the world championship it is possible to go both from NHL, and from Russia. But it depends not only on the player, but also a trainer’s staff – whether wish you to see in a national command?
The financial party? Certainly, yes. It is huge stimulus for signing the contract. But besides we solved, where Alexei will continue more successfully career – in NHL or in Russia?
“Locomotive” will give to Alexey all conditions, as well as in 2005 during lock-out. At Yashin excellent attitudes with the president of club Yuri Jakovlev, it is well familiar with the governor of the Yaroslavl area Anatoly Lisitsyn. It is loved there by fans, Alexey feels raskovanno, in a role of the leader. Yashin is imposed by trainer’s structure led by Paul Gardner …
In general, we have analysed the transaction from different directions. Also send to a common opinion, that “Locomotive” – the best place for Yashin. Probably, it will be the most important season in its career …
Really you think, what in a year your client will be demanded in NHL? American affairs in Moscow not so watch
I shall disagree with you. Believe, in NHL steadfastly observe of all Europe, including a superleague. Each command from Northern America has Russian scouts. Moreover, bosses of all commands of NHL a minimum yearly come to Russia. Besides it is possible to read about a superleague on the Internet – the rumour scatters very quickly. If Yashin it will be good to play, and I do not doubt of it, the road to NHL for it will not be closed. Will want to return then, and will act.
You, probably, hold in mind of history with Oleg Tverdovsky and Alexey Morozov which after returning in a superleague began to be quoted above in NHL.
We do not think of such parallels. Also we do not look forward: that there will be in following inter-season period. It is very important to lead this year well.
Yashin’s contract provides bonuses for [assists], goals, transfers?
“Islanders” has failed in the market of free agents. Do not know, “Ostrovia” now do not bite elbows what have decided to redeem Yashin’s contract?
Under my information when have passed the first day from the moment of opening the market and bosses “Islanders” have seen, that have actually remained without players, they have understood, that have committed a huge mistake. But nothing already can be returned … However, to all of us it is equal. In the past we do not look.
REACTION OF THE AMERICAN FANS
Fans in America basically sneer at Yashin, including, that its departure from NHL – pleasure for them.
The Best news since lock-out has ended. Thank God, we have got rid of Yashin. Now « Islanders » will sign players who will work with greater self-feedback ».
NHL now will be gone without Yashin. He is the great ambassador of hockey all over the world. Urgently it return … ha-ha, it I so joke ».
From Russia with love? No, from NHL with simplification! A fair wind, Alex!
But there were also more fair, reasonable response of fans.
Alexey, you do not deserve such attitude of fans of Northern America to. I hope, you will lead an outstanding season to Russia, will return to NHL and will prove, how those who now scoffs at you » strongly were mistaken.
thanks to a KK member for the pointer…
