A Look At The Wingers

from Scott Burnside of ESPN,

Alexander Ovechkin, Washington Capitals

Last season was difficult for the NHL’s most dynamic player. He was suspended twice, his Russian Olympic team folded in Vancouver and then his Caps blew a 3-1 series lead against eighth-seeded Montreal in the first round of the playoffs—this after Ovechkin made fun of Montreal netminder Jaroslav Halak’s shaky hand. There will be even more pressure on the Caps’ franchise player to produce not just points but also results in the playoffs this season.

I like how they list OV like he has something to prove this season. You know, cus its not like he once again proved that he’s the best winger in the game or anything. And as much as I hate OV, you can’t say that their playoff hopes rest on his shoulders, he was about as good as he could have been in the playoffs the last two seasons and you can’t blame him for his team not being as good as others.
