from Kevin Allen of USA TODAY,
Doan’s leadership is unquestionably crucial to the team’s success. His poise and composure during the team’s bankruptcy saga seemed to have a trickle-down effect in the dressing room. He is the man you hope your son becomes. He’s principled, dependable, fair-minded and family-oriented. He’s tough in the right way.
“If Shane produces in the 15- to 25-goal, and 35- to 50-point range and brings the many intangibles we require, we will be more than happy,” Maloney said.
Doan, 34, should always have the intangibles covered because that’s how he lives his life, but he has more work to do to get his numbers in shape. Because of a three-game suspension for a blindside hit and an injury, Doan has missed 10 games this season. But if you look at numbers for the 16 games he has played, he’s only on pace to net 10 goals. His plus-minus of minus-5 is the worst among Phoenix forwards.
more plus other players who could help their team…
